PAUL EGON SCHIFFERS (1903, 1987)
Sculptor and Art School Instructor

Paul Shiffers is one of three instructors at Braunschweig that Horst mentioned along with Bruno Müller-Linow, and Harro Siegel.

He is known for elegant figurative sculptures, many exhibiting a delicate sense of humor. The Young man above with some kind of chicken on his head is one of the more imaginative. Schiffers remained an art instructor throughout the war, which would have required keeping your head down. This may account for his subtle use of modernist techniques.

Presumably, Ewald Brandt also studied with Schiffers.

The following painting may have been modeled loosely after Paul Schiffers.
